EPA Declares Indoor Pollution Top Five Health Risk

Do you feel as if you constantly dust your home only to find out a day or two later that your home needs to be dusted again?  Do you or your family's eyes water or do they sneeze when the HVAC unit comes on to control the temperature in your home?  These are signs that your HVAC unit is contaminated with dust.   How does this happen?  Simply put, life.  As we go about our normal day of work, school, play, and so on, we bring in microscopic particles, pollenallergens and outdoor pollutant's, but that's not all.  If you have pets, they will shed their hair and pet dander adding to the mix.  Skins cells that we shed everyday, chemicals we use to clean, the unseen culprits better know as micro-organism like dust mites that thrive, live and die on dust, your everyday creepy crawlies like spiders, flies and many other bugs that find their way into our homes to live and then eventually die, or just your basic construction whether it is new construction or a remodel of your home,  saw dust and drywall dust find their way into your system along with many other contaminates.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has listed poor indoor air quality as one of the top 5 environmental threats to our country.  So why does the EPA feel so strongly about indoor air in homes and workplaces?  According to the EPA, indoor air is 3 to 5 times more contaminated than outdoor air and in some cases as high as 70 times.  Why so high?  Modern day construction has made our homes and businesses energy efficient to reduce our carbon foot print.  Also, many older homes and businesses are being retrofit for efficiency .  This means less drafty homes and businesses and less fresh air being circulated indoors.

Tragedy Strikes Homes to the tune of 16,800 Times Annually
Only You Can Prevent Dryer Vent Fires

Every year a silent tragedy is striking our homes on an average over 16,000 times annually in the United States.  It is something that we use on a daily basis, however we don't think twice about when we use this appliance. You ask what is it?  Your Dryer.  Not specifically your dryer but your dryer vent.

We use our dryers and never think twice about the hazards that are building on a daily basis.  When our laundry is drying small particles fall off and get swept out the dryer into the vent.  It's called lint.  Sure some gets caught on the lint screen in your dryer while others slip by and end up in the dryer exhaust vent of you dryer system.  Once in this system, these particles grow and grow until that vent system is clogged causing a very dangerous situation.

Annually over 16,000 homes are effected by this problem, some with as little as smoke damage to a total loss of home and property and even life.  Recently, the monetary loss has totaled over 194 million per year and continues to increase.  With the potential loss of life, this is a serious problem facing your family.  Fortunately, this can be prevented with an annual inspection and cleaning by a professional duct/dryer vent cleaning service.  It will not only help to prevent this tragedies, it will help your dryer run more efficient which will save you money.

At Sho-Me Duct Cleaningwe offer this service at an affordable price.
